Three ways the 2020 Subaru Forester Stands Out from the 2020 Hyundai Tucson

The Subaru Forester has always been a bit of a lone ranger in the compact SUV segment. Forester owners will know what we mean by this. You can drive every compact SUV out there and then drive the Forester, and you will immediately notice a difference in how the latter behaves on the road.

It doesn’t feel like a sport utility vehicle although it drives high, has plenty of cargo space and the most advanced all-wheel drive system in the segment. It feels quicker than your average compact SUV, and its handling feels sharper. Again, it’s hard to explain unless you’ve driven the 2020 Subaru Forester, but it has a unique personality that sets it apart from rivals like the 2020 Hyundai Tucson.

Here are three ways the new Subaru Forester shines over the 2020 Tucson.

It has a lot more interior space

The 2020 Subaru Forester is one of the most spacious compact SUVs available on the market and certainly one of the most versatile. With nearly 1,000 litres of total cargo space and over 2,100 litres of space once the rear seats are folded flat, the 2020 Forester has the space to tackle your next adventure. It is perfect for young couples, active owners, and families.

The 2020 Hyundai Tucson, on the other hand, isn’t as spacious with 878 litres of available space with all seats in place. When you fold down the rear seats, you get 1,758 litres which is more than 300 litres less than the Forester.

It has more power and better efficiency under the hood

Powering the 2020 Hyundai Tucson is either a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 161 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque, or a 2.4-litre four-cylinder with 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. Sounds great on paper, but the 2020 Subaru Forester has it beat when it comes to power.

It delivers 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque from a 2.5-litre H4 engine that averages just 9.0 litres per 100 kilometres in the city and 7.2 litres per 100 kilometres on the highway.

Regardless of which engine you choose on the 2020 Hyundai Tucson, you will average more than 9,0 litres per 100 kilometres despite having less power.

It has a better all-wheel drive system

The 2020 Subaru Forester is equipped with Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive system, a full-time system that delivers remarkable performance in any situation. The Tucson’s AWD system is part-time, or reactive to changing conditions. That means that there is always a slight hesitation when a loss of traction is felt which you won’t have in the Forester.
