Performance and Driveability


The new 2022 Subaru Forester comes with a 2.5L, 4-cylinder engine, which can put out 182 hp. The fuel consumption for this line sits around 12km/L, combining road and city conditions. The cruising capacity ranges between 690km (city) and 740km (highway). All Subaru SUVs of this line comes with an all-wheel drivetrain (AWD) and CVT transmission. 176 lb-ft of torque and a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs. 

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 comes with a similar engine, but with slightly superior performance, in terms of power. Its 2.5L, 4-cylinder engine has 187-hp, 186 lb-ft of torque capacity. The fuel consumption stays at about 10km/L, combining city and highway conditions. Like its competitor, the Mazda CX-5 also has an all-wheel drivetrain with a 6-speed A/T transmission. This SUV has a cruising range of 590km (city) and 880km (highway). 


Interior Details


The Subaru Forester is quite large for a compact SUV. It is 474cm long and 457cm high. All five seats are covered in light brown upholstery. It has plenty of legroom (109cm) and head space (104cm) in the front seats. It has a standard sound system, including AM/FM radio, a CD player and audio input. However, this feature is upgradable across all trims. All five seats are heated via a central temperature control system. 

The Mazda CX-5 is 457cm long and 165cm high, which is the average for vehicles of this kind. All five seats are covered in high-end black upholstery. There is 90cm of head space and 104cm of legroom in the front seats. The standard sound system comes with AM/FM radio, audio input and an MP3 player, but no CD player. Like the Subaru and most modern cars, this vehicle is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.


Tech And Safety Features


Competing with Japanese cars in tech and safety features is difficult. Both lines offer a wide range of driving assists and other tech features that make driving effortless. These include electronic stability and traction controls, brake assist, blind-spot monitor, lane departure and lane-keeping warnings. Additionally, there are airbags for all seats and four-wheel ABS brakes.
