2020 Subaru Ascent vs 2020 Honda Pilot

The Ascent is a midsize three-row SUV designed for new family adventures. Loaded with performance, safety, and reliability, the Ascent inspires confidence that makes any trip more enjoyable. Each Ascent fits seven to eight passengers with its third row, and it can be configured for additional cargo volume. Subaru is proud to compare the Ascent to other vehicles in its class. Here, we compare it to the 2020 Honda Pilot.

Torque and efficiency prevail on the 2020 Subaru Ascent

The Ascent features a 2.4L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft or torque that begins at just 2,000 rpm. The Pilot includes a 3.5L six-cylinder that reaches 280 horsepower, but reduces torque to 262 lb-ft, and you will have to wait until 4700 rpm to reach peak range. The Ascent’s level of responsiveness more than makes up for a few less horsepower.

The Subaru Ascent is the more efficient SUV. All trims pair with a continuously variable transmission that contributes to better fuel economy that results in a rating of 11.6/9.0 L/100 km (city/highway). Three Pilot trims burn 13.0/9.3 L/100 km - with a six-cylinder automatic - and 12.4/9.3 with a nine-speed automatic. This raises the cost of ownership for a Pilot, and you’ll pay more each time at the pump.

The 2020 Subaru Ascent features world-class AWD and more

The Ascent also comes standard with a lock-up torque converter, paddle shifters, manual transmission mode, transmission shift lock, and X-mode. Much of this equipment is either not available on the Pilot or only featured on a few trims. Every Ascent also includes the world-class Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD system that features class-leading innovations. Although the Pilot also has AWD across the model line, this system is not as powerful and proven as Subaru’s renowned AWD system hat equips every model of the Ascent.

The Ascent features 30 additional mm of head room and 43 more mm of front leg room. And with more rear leg room, the Ascent provides all occupants with a few more comforts than the Pilot. That’s important, especially on long trips.

The Subaru Ascent includes many other exciting features for you to consider before making a choice. You can shop for your car online with us. Our representatives are waiting for your call and can answer all your questions.
